Abby Tomlinson She/Her

Specialty: Individual Adult Therapist

credentials: MA LMFT (MA in Licensed Marriage & Family Therapy)

License: #LF61429911

I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a BA in Psychology and Masters of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy. I work with college students, young adults, and individuals phasing through life transitions, navigating change, and developing their identity and self-esteem. I support adults growing in academic and professional environments as we collaboratively forge therapy-guided strategies to support empowering narratives and sustainable mindsets.

My goal in therapy is to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) tendencies, academic and professional related stress, navigating identity development and life transitions, and seeking to overcome generational trauma and family tension. I enjoy working with clients looking to obtain greater self-worth and healing trauma to further facilitate having a healthy relationship with oneself as well as others. This can often look like setting boundaries, understanding feelings at a deeper, more holistic level, taking responsibility and learning how to advocate for yourself, and improving interpersonal communication skills.

I like to think of myself as your handy Swiss Army knife, available with the different tools and resources you may need to navigate each day and the challenges you face as they come. I view my sessions as structured conversations, led by my clients’ goals. I bridge my sunny, non-judgemental disposition and therapy-minded strategies with a laid back approach to empower my clients to take charge of their unique healing journey and ultimately build a sustainable self-worth and positive mental wellbeing.
In my free time, I’m exuberantly passionate about travel, exploring the world around me, and getting to know new people. Beyond travel, I like to see myself as a hobby enthusiast, intermingling my (now a little rusty) classical training in opera with other creative outlets, such as painting and embroidery.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) tendencies, academic and professional related stress, navigating identity development and life transitions, and seeking to overcome generational trauma and family tension
  • Improving self-worth through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-minded solutions
  • Enhance communication skills, setting boundaries, and advocating for self

Who I Support:

  • Individual Adults
  • Couples
  • LGBTQ+ individuals
  • Professionals

Specialty: Individual Adult Therapist

credentials: MA LMHCA (MA in Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate)

I came to this work the long way ‘round and bring a great deal of life experience to my practice as a counselor. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate or an LMHCA. This means that I have a Master of Arts in Counseling, have completed an internship, and am now a practicing counselor working under the supervision of a fully licensed therapist as I collect the required state hours of direct client work to become fully licensed myself. I believe passionately that, often, we need to know we have someone in our corner who can provide us with a place to go where we can show up as we are, where we are. I am committed to helping adults process and heal life’s challenges so they can come to know and accept themselves and create a life that is rich and meaningful.

I work primarily with Anxiety and Depression, Parenting, Self-Esteem, ADHD, and ADD among other things. Typically I approach these issues from the point of view Acceptance and Commitment therapy which involves identifying personal values, setting goals, and creating action plans. I also practice mindfulness exercises with clients that assist with calming nervous systems and allowing space for whatever thoughts and feelings are showing up.
I find immense joy in truly connecting with my clients and valuing their stories. My purpose is to create a safe and supportive space where they can freely share their challenges, experiences, and aspirations. It’s about understanding what they’ve tried, what’s working, and what isn’t. I cherish witnessing their authentic selves, allowing them to be fully present during our sessions. My primary focus is on them and their journey toward building a thriving and meaningful life. While therapy can be challenging at times, the rewards of growth and self-discovery make it a truly transformative experience.

During my free time, I cherish moments spent with my family, kids, and husband. I also indulge in my passion for playing Dungeons and Dragons and exploring MMOs.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Improving self-awareness and self-knowledge, mindfulness, and understanding of personal

Marcella (Cella) Oreta She/Her

Specialty: Individual Adult & Relationship Therapist

credentials: MS LMFT (MS in Licensed Marriage & Family Therapy)

License: #LF61468927

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), a provisional marriage and family therapy license, working under the guidance of an approved, certified supervisor. I primarily work with teens, individual adults, and families seeking support and resources to cope with stress, recover from burnout, managing depression and anxiety, addressing body image and overcoming eating disorders, and repairing family dynamics to experience healing within relationships.

My professional approach is combining the knowledge of counseling, psychology, etc. into a humanistic approach. I work to help clients create an informative space where they can simply show up as themselves with their concerns and learn as they heal, process, etc. My approach allows clients to solely focus on showing up as their authentic selves – the therapeutic space will do the rest through the process, pointing out themes, patterns, and dynamics for clients to reflect on and make active decisions about for their future.

I approach my profession with an authentic understanding of related issues, embracing my personal story of dysfunctional family dynamics and ever-improving mental wellness to reflect the value and importance of the investment and counseling relationship. That said, I also see therapy as a space to unveil the seriousness and gravity of life’s complexity, and highly encourage humor and lightheartedness as we build relationships and cultivate your mental wellness journey.

In my free time, I seek out dynamic and contrasting interests, from connecting with Mother Nature through hikes and fiercely dominating rec sports (or at least trying to) to cracking jokes with friends and binge-watching trashy TV.

I am bilingual in English and Portuguese and am open to taking clients in either language at this time.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Establish, embrace, and encourage healthy relationship building with others and with ourselves
  • Improve teen self-esteem, body image concerns, overcome eating disorders, and navigate transitional development in life and identity
  • Solution-driven systems to manage stress, depression, and anxiety

Life is about transitions—unexpected, confusing, and sometimes unenjoyable. Yet, we strive to grow. Over fifty years, I’ve learned that change is inevitable. The key question is: will we let life sweep us along, or will we choose a destination and collect wisdom along the way? (Letting life sweep us along isn’t failure; sometimes we need to explore or simply survive until we find our way again.)

As a counselor, I help clients distinguish between wandering and traveling, understand when each is appropriate, identify destinations, and make optimal choices. You are the expert on yourself—where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go. Together, we will choose your destination and transition from here to there.

My counseling is person-centered and holistic. Your experiences shape you but don’t define you. Your identity is uniquely yours, deserving dignity and respect. My eclectic approach combines various therapies, including Strengths-based, Narrative, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

In sessions, we’ll discuss perceptions and biases and practice skills like square breathing, somatic referencing, and butterfly hugs.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Improving self-awareness, self-knowledge, mindfulness, and understanding of personal values
  • Rewriting personal narratives
  • Helping adults with anxiety, depression, self-esteem and -efficacy, and body-image challenges
  • Boundaries – identifying, communicating, holding, and flexing.
  • Nonviolent communication

Specialty: Individual Adult & Relationship Therapist

credentials: MSW LICSW (Master of Social Work in Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker)
License: #LW61499732

I am an LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker) with a BA in Middle Eastern Studies, Anthropology and a Masters of Social Work. I decided to become a therapist after living and working in low-income communities throughout my life. Witnessing the stark lack of mental health services for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and other marginalized communities fueled my passion for making a difference. In my work with adult clients, I prioritize warmth, humor, collaboration, and non-judgment to truly understand each person as an individual and foster a strong therapeutic relationship.

My professional interests and experiences lie in the following areas: Trauma, Depression, Gender-Based/Sexual/Emotional Abuse, Neurodivergence (ADHD, ASD, etc.), Relationship Issues, Life Transitions, and Self-Esteem.

In my approach to treating trauma, I prioritize earning respect and trust while building a solid therapeutic relationship with my clients. We proceed gradually and safely, exploring concerns related to their trauma background. I emphasize the importance of patience and self-compassion during trauma work, as it may unearth past mental wounds that have long been suppressed, repressed, or ignored.

Similarly, my approach to treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other concerns mirrors my trauma treatment. I focus on earning respect and trust while fostering a strong therapeutic relationship. I provide clients with a safe space to lead their therapeutic journey. As a therapist, my role is to support them in identifying unhealthy patterns that have led to their suffering or distress, empowering them to make positive changes in their lives.

During my free time, I enjoy indulging in various interests, including science fiction/fantasy, comics, console gaming, tattoos, dark humor, movies, bouldering, and going on walks.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, gender-based violence, and other challenges
  • Rebuild trust with friends, family and romantic relationships; decrease negative effects of compulsive activities; and identify and work towards goals in a safe space
  • Dedicated to supporting individuals who are BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, TAY (transitional-aged youth 18-26), mixed culturally, low-income

Specialty: Individual Adults, Professionals, Teens

credentials: MSW LICSW (Master Of Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work)

License: #LW61471379

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). My focus is identifying how an individual functions in the different systems they must navigate daily. I support individuals in coping with the stress, anxiety, depression, or other feelings and thoughts that may come with this. I work with individuals who wish to explore self- identity and learn self-compassion. I support people writing their own story while honoring the history of those that came before.

I use a holistic approach that is strengths-based, person-centered, trauma-informed, and mindful. In particular, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Solution-Focused Therapy in my practice. I emphasize caring for our mental health as much as our physical health as they are deeply intertwined.

My goal is to create a space where people feel comfortable to share their deepest emotions and thoughts, address burnout or moral injury, and prioritize their well-being. I emphasize duality in life and the notion that two things can exist at the same time; for example, space to fulfill your life obligations while still caring for and nurturing yourself.

I approach this therapeutic space using my personal experiences from navigating complex family dynamics, creating boundaries, and defining my identity. As Dr. Thema would say, “This is your homecoming. You are returning to yourself one sacred breath at a time.”

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Improving mindfulness and self-awareness of how environments impact our well-being, and our role in this
  • Assisting with life transitions i.e. family conflict, college, new job, new relationships, leaving home
  • Helping individuals with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma

Specialty: Individual Adult Therapist

credentials: M.Ed LMHCA (Masters in Education in Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate)

License: #MC60894235

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate or an LMHCA. I have a master’s degree in psychology. I did my internship on the psychiatric unit of a hospital and I wrote my master’s thesis on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

In 35 years of professional experience, I have been an adjunct professor at a college teaching psychology classes, I have counseled hundreds of individuals and I heard a lot of painful life experiences. Even though I have had a lot of leadership roles, what I enjoy most is spending my day counseling and coaching with individual clients.

I take a laid-back approach to counseling and give my clients the space to explore life at their own pace. I am non-judgmental, creative and curious. I like to work with you to find the skills and resources that help you reach your goals.

My ultimate goal is that with each interaction, you walk away certain of these defining values:

  1. You are not late to the party. You are right on time.
  2. You are awesome even on your worst day. Bad days come and go but you are always awesome.
  3. You are enough. You just don’t know it yet. Give me 90 days and you’ll see!
  4. Not everything is your fault. If it is, own it. If it’s not, let it go. Be honest enough to know the difference.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Providing solutions to manage stress and anxiety by improving sleep and creating sustainable physical wellness patterns
  • Coping with substance abuse behaviors and overcoming trauma
  • Coaching for wellness, mindfulness, and self care with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills and techniques

Maggie Rodriguez She/Her

Specialty: Individual Adult Therapist

credentials: MA LMFT (MA in Licensed Marriage & Family Therapy)

License: #LF60731778

As a licensed marriage and family therapist with 12 years of experience, my expertise lies in studying how individuals function within systems, specifically relationships, which was a significant focus during my graduate school training. I work with individuals who are eager to gain self-insight and enhance their overall quality of life.

My approach is holistic, as I strive to understand each person’s background and acknowledge the strengths they already possess, tailoring therapy to their unique needs. I firmly believe that establishing a strong alliance with my clients is crucial for maximizing the benefits of therapy and fostering lasting change. Through this collaborative alliance, I partner with my clients to explore and address thought and behavior patterns that may hinder them from fully enjoying life.

In therapy, my approach centers around creating a safe and trusting space where individuals can freely share their deepest thoughts and emotions. I believe in providing unconditional positive regard to everyone I work with. Together, we identify patterns of dysfunction and collaboratively seek ways to change unwanted or unhelpful behaviors. I aim to empower people, helping them find their voice so they can confidently express their wants and needs in life.

The three values that guide my life are integrity, compassion, and kindness. I believe in approaching others with kindness, assuming that people are doing their best. Understanding that many individuals have experienced trauma allows me to meet gruff, hard, or angry people with compassion.

I recognize the significance of reducing anxiety and stress by providing predictability and reliability. Therefore, I strive to follow through with my commitments and do my best to fulfill what I say I will do.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies:

  • Improving self-awareness, ability to take action towards desired goals, ability to navigate transitions
  • Helping adults with anxiety, depression and personal growth
  • Specialized training to support individuals navigate and repair conflictual relationships

Mason Culbertson They/Them

Specialty: Adolescent Therapist
credentials: M.Ed LMHCA
License: #MC61565816

I began my work post-undergrad as an advocate and violence prevention educator. I worked directly with clients, mostly young adults, and youth in middle and high school. This work led me to several other direct service roles in the Puget Sound region. During my work, I learned quickly that what most people could readily benefit from when tangible resources were not an option, was to be listened to. To have their experiences understood by someone else, or at least the earnest attempt to. This sparked an interest in counseling work and a desire to connect to clients in long-term and more mental health recovery-focused roles. I grew up a Latine, multiracial, military child- as well as being queer and gender-queer. This was a mixed bag of an experience growing up, however, the role of community and culture were prominent parts of my life which helped guide me through it all. I want to be able to support other folks like me, through their youth and young adulthood in similar ways as I have grown through.

Goals, Focuses & Strategies

I generally approach counseling through a person-centered lens, a.k.a Rogerian therapy or psychotherapy. This technique is focused on developing a healthy and trusting relationship between client and counselor to model positive change and radical self-acceptance. Building the relationship up to a brave enough point where therapeutic breakthroughs can occur is the goal, and this can take some, time each client-counselor relationship is different. This approach can help with the more nuanced concerns of trauma processing. In addition, I use a combination of tools and principles from several theories, including; multicultural and social justice counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy (MCSJC and CBT) to individually tailor a treatment plan to a specific client (this is sometimes called eclectic style therapy). CBT can be useful for addressing day to day concerns and symptoms, we will mostly use this to help address behavior changes and your thoughts (cognitions) and beliefs as they relate to processing your symptoms and core concerns. MCSJC is a collection of ethical guidelines that emphasize the social position of the client and counselor. This informs the counselor of the many layers of power between them and the client as well as providing a framework to respectfully explore and consider the role of a client’s social position in the shaping of their mental helath. I use these and several other theories supplementary to my main person-centered approach. If you are interested in using tools from theories not listed here, feel free to inquire with me about my ability to use those approached.
